Job summary

We are looking to recruit a registered nurse to join our team providing care on our paediatric assessment unit. This is an exciting opportunity to join our paediatric team with lots of new and innovative services growing and developing. We are looking to increase our nursing establishment within PAU as the service grows and you would be a key part in this development.

You would be joining a friendly and dynamic multi-disciplinary team, whose paediatric services were rated as GOOD by the CQC .

We are looking for registered nurses of all levels of experience, who have passion and drive to provide excellent patient care for all children aged 0-16 years and their families.

At present we have a position within the Paediatric Assessment Unit offering full time hours to the successful candidate.

Our Paediatric Assessment Unit is currently co-located with our inpatient paediatric ward and has strong links with this service and the Paediatric Emergency Department.

Please note, this post is also open to newly qualified nurses or adult nurses with paediatric experience.

Main duties of the job

  • Participate in the provision of a high standard of patient centred evidence-based nursing care
  • Assist in the delivery of a family-centred, clinically effective and dynamic service from the babies/child's/young person's admission assessment to discharge
  • Act as a role model for other staff.
  • Contribute to the development of action plans, protocols and pathways to ensure continuous quality improvement of the paediatric/neonatal service.
  • Using appraisal reviews to progress personal and professional knowledge and skills.

About us

There's never been a more exciting time to join TeamQEH. We're working on a once in a generation opportunity to build a new state-of-the-art hospital to open in 2030 and we are also carrying out on one of the biggest pieces of digital transformation work we've ever undertaken.

Our new electronic patient record (EPR) will replace paper-based patient records from 2026 and will lead to better, safer, joined-up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.

At The QEH we provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, North Cambs and South Lincs.

We are an ambitious organisation that upholds our values of kindness, wellness and fairness. We strive for continuous quality improvement, recently demonstrated in our 2024 CQC maternity inspection rating our services as 'Good', and we are proud to be a place to learn and grow through recognised learning and apprenticeships.

We recognise and reward our 4,000 staff and volunteers, priding ourselves on a community atmosphere and positive team spirit. We have approx. 530 beds across 33 wards and have newly built education and training facilities, a range of modern award-winning centres alongside a talented team of people ready to give you a warm welcome.

We love working here and think you will too.
