**SEMH Teaching Assistant - Primary School**

Do you have experience supporting children with **SEMH, behavioural or emotional needs**?
Aspire People are working with primary schools looking for dedicated Teaching Assistants who can support pupils who may require additional help with their behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement with learning.
This role would suit someone who understands that behaviour is often a form of communication and can build trusting relationships with children who may have experienced challenges both inside and outside of school.
**Your Responsibilities Will Include:**
* Providing 1:1 and small-group SEMH support
* Supporting pupils with behavioural and emotional needs
* Helping children regulate their emotions and manage difficult situations
* Implementing individual behaviour and support strategies
* Building positive and consistent relationships with pupils
* Supporting pupils to engage with classroom learning
* Assisting with transitions and unstructured periods
* Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff
* Encouraging independence, resilience and positive behaviour
* Recording observations and feeding back to relevant staff
**The Ideal Candidate:**
* Recent experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
* Experience within a UK school or similar child-focused environment
* Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
* Calm, patient and resilient approach
* Able to remain consistent when faced with challenging behaviour
* Strong understanding of safeguarding
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Experience as a **Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Support Worker, Youth Worker, Mentor or similar** would be considered, although candidates with strong recent school-based experience would be particularly well suited.
