Job description
Job responsibilities
This is a part-time position working 22.5 hours per week, with core working days from Monday to Friday. Due to the needs of the service, occasional weekend clinics may also be required.
As a Screening Technician within the Hertfordshire Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening Programme, you will deliver screening services in community clinics across Hertfordshire, carrying out ultrasound scans for men aged 65 and over to detect abdominal aortic aneurysms.Using a handheld ultrasound machine, you will perform scans and explain the results to participants at the time of their appointment. Depending on the findings, participants may be discharged from the programme, invited for ongoing surveillance at either 12-monthly or three-monthly intervals, or referred to the Trust for further assessment and treatment if a large aneurysm is detected.
The role involves travelling extensively between community clinics held at various locations across Hertfordshire, including hospitals and GP practices. You will therefore need to be comfortable travelling independently between sites and managing your workload effectively.

Following each clinic, you will also be responsible for downloading and uploading the screening images onto the NEC system, ensuring that records are completed accurately and in line with the programme's requirements.
This role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, a flexible approach to working and a commitment to delivering a high standard of patient care. You will need to work both independently and as part of a team in community settings while following national screening procedures and maintaining patient confidentiality.
