We're looking for a Microsoft eDiscovery Premium specialist to streamline how our client handles Subject Access Requests (SARs) and investigations.

The main objective is to complete the transition from eDiscovery (Standard) in Microsoft Purview to eDiscovery Premium. A key part of this is moving Data Protection Officers (DPOs) away from extracting data for external review, so they work directly in the internal review toolset instead. Doing that needs both strong technical depth and real influence with senior stakeholders.

The role

  • Lead the transition to Microsoft Purview eDiscovery Premium and embed it as the standard approach for SARs and investigations.
  • Configure roles, permissions, case structures and holds.
  • Set up dynamic user groups (formerly compliance boundaries) across Microsoft 365 so data access is properly segregated.
  • Run end-to-end searches across Exchange, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.
  • Manage review sets, including de-duplication, filtering and data set management.
  • Help DPOs adopt in-platform review in place of external export, through training, guidance and hands-on support.
  • Build repeatable processes, templates and documentation so the capability can scale.
  • Manage communication with senior stakeholders during high-pressure, time-sensitive investigations.

What you'll bring

  • Deep, hands-on expertise in Microsoft eDiscovery Premium. You need to be a genuine subject-matter expert who understands who should use the tools and how to get the best from them, not only someone who has administered them.
  • Strong KQL skills for building precise, defensible searches.
  • Proven experience managing data sets, de-duplication and filtering at scale.
  • Experience delivering SARs or investigations under UK GDPR / Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to influence senior DPOs and drive change in how they work.
  • Calm, clear communication under pressure.

Nice to have

  • Broader Microsoft Purview knowledge, such as retention, sensitivity labels, DLP and insider risk.
  • Financial services or other regulated-industry experience.
  • Relevant Microsoft certification, e.g. SC-401 (Information Security Administrator).
