Job summary
Join our brand new Surgical Assessment Unit team at Charing Cross Hospital.
As a Band 5 Staff Nurse , you will be at the absolute forefront of this new service launch. Working as part of a nursing team under the leadership of the Unit Matron, you will high quality nursing care to surgical patients, supervise junior staff, and drive efficient patient flow through a fast-paced environment. This is a rare opportunity to shape a newly formed multidisciplinary team, build a collaborative culture from the ground up, and establish clinical excellence in acute surgical care.
We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our SAU team at the beginning of this exciting venture.You will be passionate about delivering safe, high-quality nursing care within a fast paced, evolving and exciting area of acute surgical services. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with the enthusiasm to be part of a forward thinking and innovative nursing team.
We are recruiting for 7 full-time positions and 1 part-time position.

Main duties of the job
- Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
- Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based.
- Individualised patient care.
- Organise one's own work load ensuring most effective use of time.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff and students.
- Ensure that nursing practices comply with Trust policies and procedures.
- Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
- Assist in the teaching and development of nursing assistants and students helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
- To keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.
- Develop new skills and knowledge pertaining to the speciality as advised by the senior sister or charge nurse.
