Job summary
We are excited to announce a wonderful opportunity to join the Clinical Trials Centre at St Mary's, ICHT. We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Band 5 Clinical Research Nurse to support our HIV and Sexual Health clinical research studies on a one-year fixed-term contract.
Post qualification nursing experience is essential to this role and therefore it is not suitable for newly qualified nurses or those who have yet completed their preceptorship.
This role involves onsite working only. You will be based primarily at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, with the potential to travel to Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals as needed, to assist with commercial and non-commercial research studies.
The role also includes day to day monitoring and maintenance of the clinic and equipment, and the opportunity to manage wider team projects such as the Patient Reported Experience Survey as mandated from the NIHR, as well as clinical audits.
You will need to collaborate with the Principal Investigators (PIs), the wider Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) as well as the Study Team in order to efficiently manage a caseload of studies. Excellent communication skills are required.
Prior knowledge and clinical experience of research delivery in a healthcare setting and clinical experience or knowledge about HIV and Sexual Health would be advantageous.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will support the aims of the Trust and the NIHR clinical research network to improve the speed, quality, and integration of clinical research, through the successful delivery of clinical research in the NHS.
- The post holder will support the co-ordination and management of clinical research projects, collaborating with key personnel throughout the Trust and network to ensure continued care and support for patients involved in clinical trials.
- The main focus of the role will be in supporting the delivery and development of the research portfolio through identification of suitable participants, co-ordination, recruitment, performance and maintenance of study documentation.
- The post holder will ensure that any research undertaken safeguards the well-being of research participants and is conducted to ICH Good Clinical Practice standards.
