Job summary

We are looking for a compassionate, motivated and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Medicine for the Elderly ward. As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care to older patients with complex medical needs, promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing. You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, supporting assessment, care planning, medication administration and discharge planning.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, organisation and clinical skills, with a commitment to continuous professional development. Previous experience in elderly care is essential or a previous placement in elderly care during your training. We offer comprehensive support, training and career development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

  • Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
  • Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based.
  • Organise one's own workload ensuring most effective use of time.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff and students.
  • Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
  • Assist in the teaching and development of nursingassistants and students helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
  • Act as a role model and mentor to nursing assistants, pre-registration students and nurses undertaking supervised practice and return to nursing programmes.
  • To keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence-based practice.
