An exciting opportunity for an experienced consultation and engagement professional to play a key role in ensuring the councils residents have a meaningful voice.
The post provides additional delivery capacity as the Head of Insight and Engagement phases back into full-time work following an extended absence. The successful candidate will bring high-level expertise and immediate delivery capability, taking ownership of an established workload, leading key consultation projects and providing advice on complex and sensitive engagement activity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading key projects: Plan, manage and deliver inclusive public consultation and engagement activity across a range of Council services and priorities
- Ensuring legal robustness: Ensure consultation processes meet statutory requirements, follow best practice and are robust enough to withstand scrutiny or legal challenge
- Advising senior stakeholders: Provide expert advice on engagement approaches for high-profile, complex and sensitive local issues, working closely with senior officers and elected Members
- Supporting housing engagement: Work alongside Housing colleagues to support effective tenant and leaseholder engagement, resident participation and consultation activity
- Turning insight into action: Oversee the analysis and interpretation of consultation feedback, ensuring residents’ views and community insight meaningfully inform Council policy and decision-making
- Building trust with communities: Champion inclusive approaches that enable Hackney’s diverse communities to participate effectively and have their voices heard
Key Requirements:
- A proven track record of delivering complex consultation and engagement projects within a local authority or large public sector organisation
- Political awareness and sensitivity, with experience working effectively with elected Members and navigating complex or politically sensitive environments
- Strong analytical and insight skills, with the ability to turn consultation responses and community feedback into meaningful intelligence for decision-making
