Academics are working with a welcoming primary school in Havering who are looking for a dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to join their team for the academic year. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with younger children and takes pride in helping them develop their confidence, independence and early learning skills.
Position: Early Years Teaching Assistant
Location: Havering, East London
Contract: Full-time, long-term contract until July 2027
Start Date: September 2026
Day Rate: £92 - £120 a day
About the Role
As an Early Years Teaching Assistant in Havering, you will be working closely with the class teacher to support children through their early stages of education.
You'll be involved in a mixture of learning activities, classroom routines and individual support, helping create a calm and stimulating environment where children feel comfortable exploring, communicating and developing new skills.
This Havering role would particularly suit someone who enjoys the energy and creativity of Early Years and understands how important those first experiences of school can be.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children within Nursery or Reception.
- Assist with engaging EYFS activities and classroom learning.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support when required.
- Encourage children's communication, social skills and independence.
- Help children develop positive attitudes towards learning.
- Support classroom routines and prepare learning resources.
- Work closely with the class teacher and wider school team.
- Promote a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment.
- Follow school safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working within an Early Years or primary setting.
- Good understanding of supporting young children's learning and development.
- Caring, patient and enthusiastic approach.
- Ability to build positive relationships with young children.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, adaptable and willing to get involved in all aspects of classroom life.
- Enhanced DBS, or willingness to apply.
