An energetic, vibrant secondary school in Peckham is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their learning support department immediately for the remainder of the academic year.
In this role, you will work closely with secondary aged students who have a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and moderate learning difficulties. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to ensure students can access the curriculum, stay engaged, and thrive in an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities

Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group academic and pastoral support to SEN students.

Implement strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Assist subject teachers in adapting learning materials and managing classroom behaviour.

Build trusting, positive relationships with pupils to encourage independence, self-esteem and emotional regulation.

Monitor student progress, keep detailed tracking notes, and report back to the SENCO.
Requirements (Essential)

Prior SEN Experience: Proven track record working with secondary-aged pupils (11-16) with special educational needs.

Immediate Availability: Able to interview and start immediately for full-time work.

Enhanced DBS: Must hold an Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply immediately).

Soft Skills: Strong communication, high patience, adaptability and a proactive approach to behaviour management.
