Overview

A global e-commerce company are looking for a Senior .NET Backend Engineer to join a high-profile project focused on building a new platform that sits above its existing search technology stack.

The project will involve creating a lightweight abstraction layer and API architecture that simplifies the user experience, whilst providing a foundation for future search platform evolution.

This is an opportunity to work on a greenfield-style initiative where you'll have significant autonomy and be trusted to deliver solutions with minimal supervision.

The Role

Working closely with the Engineering Leadership team, you will be responsible for designing and building scalable backend services and APIs that underpin a new platform.

This role requires an experienced contractor who can quickly understand requirements, make sound technical decisions, and independently deliver high-quality solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and developing .NET Core services and APIs
• Building abstraction layers between front-end applications and search technologies
• Developing API services
• Working with Azure cloud services
• Designing and maintaining SQL databases
• Collaborating with senior stakeholders and engineers to refine requirements
• Contributing to architecture and technical decision making
• Producing clean, scalable and maintainable code

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience with .NET Core
• Experience working with Azure
• Strong SQL/database development experience
• REST API design and development experience
• Experience building scalable backend systems
• Ability to work autonomously and deliver with limited oversight
• Strong stakeholder communication skills
• Typically 6-10+ years software engineering experience

Desirable Experience

• React JS knowledge
• E-commerce or retail technology experience
• Search, merchandising or product catalogue systems
• Experience integrating with third-party SaaS platforms
• Experience working on greenfield product development
