Our client is a large international organisation with operations across multiple jurisdictions. It offers a collaborative working environment and is investing in the continued development of its payroll systems, controls and international operating model.

The International Payroll Specialist will support the accurate, timely and compliant delivery of payroll across a number of countries. The role will work closely with internal teams and third-party payroll providers to maintain service quality, respond to regulatory change and resolve operational issues.

This is an attractive opportunity for an experienced international payroll professional to contribute to process improvement, system development and the creation of a more resilient and scalable payroll function. The successful candidate will also help improve reporting, strengthen governance and enhance the employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll delivery for an assigned portfolio of countries, providing additional regional support when required.
  • Monitor relevant payroll legislation, taxation, social security requirements and employment arrangements, ensuring that regulatory changes are reflected in payroll processes.
  • Coordinate with external payroll providers and internal stakeholders to validate payroll inputs, resolve discrepancies and maintain agreed service standards.
  • Support the integration of new countries or legal entities into the payroll operating model, including data preparation, system configuration, testing and process documentation.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to standardise processes, strengthen controls, reduce manual activity and increase the effective use of payroll technology.
  • Maintain accurate and secure payroll records, produce management information and support audits, reconciliations, system changes and wider payroll projects.

Experience required

  • Significant experience of delivering end-to-end payroll across multiple European or international jurisdictions.
  • A strong understanding of payroll legislation, statutory deductions, taxation, social security and, where relevant, collective employment arrangements.
  • Experience of managing relationships with outsourced payroll providers and monitoring service quality, accuracy and compliance.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple payroll cycles, deadlines and stakeholder requirements.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including the confidence to investigate discrepancies and make sound operational decisions.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional, dependable and empathetic approach to employee payroll enquiries.
  • Good spreadsheet, data analysis and reporting skills, with careful attention to data accuracy, confidentiality and internal controls.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across other functions while operating independently when required.
