About the role
As a Community Housing Officer, you will manage a portfolio of tenancies and provide a person-centred, relationship-based service. You will work proactively with customers to identify their needs, resolve issues and connect them with appropriate internal and external support.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Managing tenancies and ensuring customers understand their rights and responsibilities
  • Rent collection and arrears management
  • Managing voids and tenancy turnover
  • Investigating and managing reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB)
  • Supporting the management of property conditions

About you

You will have:
  • Knowledge of relevant housing legislation and tenancy management practices
  • Experience of working independently and using your own initiative with minimal supervision
  • A proven ability to establish effective partnerships and deliver positive outcomes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • A positive, solution-focused approach and the ability to deal confidently with complex situations
  • The ability to negotiate, influence and build effective relationships with customers, colleagues and stakeholders
  • A high level of personal integrity and a commitment to equality and diversity
  • The resilience and flexibility to work effectively in a changing environment
A recognised housing qualification, or a willingness to work towards one, would be desirable.

Welsh language skills would also be highly beneficial.

Working arrangements - The role is based across Torfaen, with a combination of office, community and home working. Regular home and site visits will be required, with occasional evening work and, rarely, weekend working.
You will need to be able to travel effectively and in a timely manner throughout Torfaen, either as a car driver or through another suitable means of transport.

If you have housing management experience and are looking for your next temporary opportunity, we would be keen to hear from you.
