Job summary

The technical cardiology team for Norfolk and Norwich University hospital are recruiting for a chief cardiac physiologist in echocardiography to join their dedicated team. This is a Band 7 post and the candidate will be able to scan and report echocardiogram in accordance with their BSE Level 2 accreditation, only candidates with BSE level 2 accreditation or recognised equivalence will be considered. You will be mainly based on the main hospital site at Colney Lane, Norwich, whereby part of a service that offers range of cardiac services including acute cardiology ward, angiography suite, dedicated coronary care unit which is the PPCI centre for Norfolk.

As a chief cardiac physiologist, people are at the heart of what you will do. Our department manages a large non-invasive workload including ambulatory monitoring, pacemaker, and loop recorder follow-up work as well as echocardiography in the form of TTE, TOE, stress echo, and congenital heart disease. You will work towards becoming a lead for our patient focused service which delivers approximately 18,000 transthoracic echocardiograms annually. We are seeking a colleague who can understand the complex nature of the services we provide and how important this is to help us improve patients care.

Main duties of the job

With our department covering a range of procedures and services but working with the wider multidisciplinary team and other hospitals. We require you to provide excellence in your communication and teamwork with a personable, approachable, and respectful manner to both individuals of our wider cardiology team and our patients and visitors. Your primary role will be scan and report echocardiograms solo when all competencies are met and the Band 7 post is achieved. Our aim is delivering a high-quality service for all patients within your sphere of influence and perform to the level of an independent practitioner within our specialised technical cardiology field. There is the aim for this role to provide clinical and managerial leadership and support all our staff including providing support and guidance to develop our staff.
