About this job

A well-established not-for-profit organisation is seeking a Commercial Manager to oversee commercial activities and manage relationships with clients, partners and suppliers. You'll support contract management, commercial performance and risk while helping to maximise income and ensure compliance across the organisation.

What you'll do:
  • Manage and advise on a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements across the organisation.
  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts, including customer terms, NDAs and other commercial agreements.
  • Lead and support complex commercial and legal negotiations, including with large organisations and key stakeholders.
  • Provide commercial advice to internal teams, offering practical solutions while knowing when issues need to be escalated.
  • Review contractual terms, identify potential risks and ensure the organisation's interests are protected.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, confidently challenging or saying no where necessary while offering alternative solutions.
  • Support the Commercial Officers, providing guidance and acting as a senior point of escalation.
  • Work across a varied portfolio involving the UK and international subsidiaries.
  • Provide commercial input into bids and proposals where required, rather than owning the bid process.
  • Work collaboratively with Finance, Procurement and other internal teams on wider commercial matters.
What you bring:
  • Strong experience in commercial contracts, contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Confidence reviewing and negotiating customer terms, NDAs and complex commercial agreements.
  • Experience handling significant commercial negotiations with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to identify risk and provide practical solutions.
  • A proactive and assertive approach, with the confidence to challenge stakeholders when necessary.
  • Ability to manage expectations, prioritise competing demands and work independently.
  • Experience operating at a Commercial Manager level or equivalent - job title is less important than relevant experience.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills and the judgement to know when to resolve an issue independently versus escalate.
  • Some understanding of procurement and bid/proposal processes would be beneficial, but is not essential to the core role.
  • Charity or not-for-profit experience would be advantageous due to the FTC nature of the role, but is not essential.
