Help Learners Develop Essential Skills and Confidence
We're looking for a Functional Skills Tutor to support children and young people across the BCP area through personalised 1:1 tuition.
Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll help learners develop key English and Maths skills, supporting them to overcome barriers to education and achieve meaningful progress. Many of the students we work with benefit from a practical, tailored approach to learning that focuses on building confidence, independence, and real-world skills.
Whether you're supporting learners preparing for qualifications or helping them strengthen foundational skills, you'll play an important role in their educational journey.

- Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour
- Type: 1:1 Tuition
Requirements
- Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles
- Experience delivering or supporting Functional Skills English and/or Maths
- Ability to plan engaging, personalised sessions
- Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Patient, adaptable, and encouraging approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally across the BCP area

You'll work with children and young people who may have:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- ADHD
- Anxiety and school avoidance
- EHCPs and additional educational needs
Each learner follows an individual programme designed to support both academic development and long-term confidence.
