We are looking for an experienced Enterprise Architect to join a Central Government client on an exciting programme focused on strengthening and connecting architecture information across government organisations.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced architect who can operate independently, work at pace and quickly contribute across enterprise architecture modelling, governance, capability planning and architecture repository management.
Practical delivery experience is particularly important. You will need strong ArchiMate modelling expertise, experience working with enterprise architecture repositories and the ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise architecture modelling activities, including the development of taxonomies and metamodels covering organisations, services, business capabilities, applications, technologies, suppliers and their relationships.
- Develop and maintain capability maps, application portfolio models and enterprise architecture repositories.
- Define entity structures, naming conventions, identifiers, relationships and data ownership to enable information from different organisations and repositories to be mapped consistently.
- Translate architecture use cases into repository configurations, model views, dashboards, workflows, governance controls and acceptance criteria.
- Lead and support architecture governance, including design reviews, architecture review boards and governance forums.
- Work with stakeholders across government to reconcile different architecture frameworks, terminology and modelling practices.
- Assess enterprise architecture repository configurations for interoperability, maintainability, extensibility, versioning and long-term reuse.
- Work alongside technical and data colleagues to validate architecture sources, mappings, provenance, completeness and changes.
- Help stakeholders interpret architecture insights around application portfolios, dependencies, technology obsolescence, overlap and potential reuse.
Essential Skills & Experience
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Strong commercial experience as an Enterprise Architect, Solution Architect or Business Architect.
- Excellent hands-on knowledge of ArchiMate.
- Strong knowledge of TOGAF and enterprise architecture principles.
- Experience with capability modelling and application portfolio modelling.
- Hands-on experience designing or configuring metamodels within an enterprise architecture repository.
- Strong experience leading or contributing to architecture governance, including design authorities or architecture review boards.
- Experience maintaining architecture artefacts and enterprise repositories.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex architecture concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently, deliver at pace and make an immediate contribution with minimal onboarding.
Desirable Experience
- Previous Central or Local Government experience, with Local Government experience particularly valuable.
- Hands-on experience with Ardoq, Avolution ABACUS or similar enterprise architecture repository tools.
- Experience in information modelling or data architecture.
- TOGAF and/or ArchiMate certification.
- Experience supporting complex organisations with large application portfolios and established architecture governance processes.
