Job summary

An excellent, competitive remuneration package is on offer. The appointee may choose to work as a self-employed consultant under practising privileges or to be employed by the hospital on a sessional basis. There is currently a long waiting list of private patients seeking dermatology consultation and treatment, so full lists are available from the outset. There are also opportunities to pursue niche interests in medical, surgical or laser dermatology.

With a supportive network and a healthy worklife balance, you can expect autonomy and an environment where collaboration is celebrated. Everything is designed to enable our consultant colleagues to care for our patients with efficiency, generosity and compassion.

A harmonious work pattern is part of our wider commitment to improving the quality and experience of working with our team. We therefore welcome open conversations about a working pattern that suits your worklife balance. If it works for you and works for the role, we will do our best to make it happen.

The successful candidate will be provided with appropriate secretarial support for clinical work and diary management.

Main duties of the job

The role is provision of dermatology care to self paying and insured private patients.

The main clinical activities include:

  • Skin cancer diagnosis and management: a high-prevalence region with excellent referral pathways, and standard surgical excisions in a dedicated procedure suite
  • General and complex medical dermatology: acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, paediatric dermatology, inflammatory disease and urticaria
  • Optional specialist care: Mohs surgery, CO and picosecond lasers, cosmetic dermatology and energy-based devices

The post will be based at the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital in Aylesbury and The New Foscote Hospital in Banbury. The role involves outpatient clinics and minor skin surgery at both sites.

Applications for a minimum of one weekly session (each session lasting three hours) will be considered.
