Interim CFO (charity)

Charity / Not-for-Profit | Urgent Interim Assignment | c. £130-£150k salary equivalent

The Hays Senior Finance executive team in the South East are supporting a large, complex and purpose-led organisation with the urgent appointment of an experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer while a permanent recruitment process is completed. Our Bristol & Bath branch are looking for any CFO-level finance contractors that are happy travelling 3-4 days a week for a C-Suite level role.

This is a high-profile executive leadership position with responsibility for providing strategic financial leadership, strong governance and financial stewardship, while partnering closely with the CEO, Board and senior leadership team. We are particularly keen to speak with experienced charity / not-for-profit CFOs and Finance Directors across the South West who are comfortable travelling and being on-site four days per week.

The role will include:

• Providing strategic financial leadership across a complex organisation
• Partnering closely with the CEO, Board and senior leadership team
• Leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow
• Ensuring strong governance, controls, compliance and risk management
• Supporting organisational strategy, transformation and long-term financial sustainability
• Providing oversight and leadership of the finance function
• Supporting investment, funding and significant strategic projects
• Providing commercial insight and constructive challenge at Executive and Board level

About youWe are looking for an established CFO / Finance Director who can step into a senior leadership role quickly and provide stability, credibility and direction.

Ideally, you will have:

• Strong charity / not-for-profit sector experience
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
• Previous CFO, Finance Director or equivalent senior finance leadership experience
• Strong Board, Trustee and Executive stakeholder experience
• Excellent financial governance and strategic planning credentials
• Experience operating within a complex, purpose-led organisation
• The ability to balance commercial thinking with organisational purpose
• Availability at short notice
• Flexibility to travel and work on-site four days per week

Package & processSalary equivalent £130,000- £150,000, depending on experience and engagement/pay type.
