Apply for this job

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the wider Dermatology multidisciplinary team as a Band 4 Patient Pathway Coordinator, providing specialist administrative and pathway support across the service. Working closely with clinical, nursing and administrative colleagues, the post holder will play a key role in coordinating the Dermatology-specific aspects of patient pathways, ensuring that investigations, results, treatment-related processes, clinical correspondence and onward actions are progressed appropriately and efficiently. The PPC will work alongside the Patient Access and Scheduling teams, who manage the routine booking of new and follow-up appointments, with this role providing the additional specialist coordination required to support patients through more complex Dermatology pathways. The post holder will act as an important point of contact for patients and clinical teams, proactively resolving queries, monitoring outstanding actions and inboxes within agreed timeframes, maintaining accurate patient information and escalating delays or concerns where appropriate. The role requires excellent organisation, communication and problem-solving skills and provides an opportunity to make a direct contribution to the delivery of a responsive, well-coordinated and patient-centred Dermatology service.

Main duties of the job

To provideadditional specialist administrative support across the Dermatology service, Patient Pathway Coordinators will work across two core pathway teams, while retaining flexibility to support the wider service as required. One team will primarily support the Teledermatology pathway and Minor Operations (MOPs) coordination and scheduling, ensuring patients progress efficiently through these pathways. The second team will provide dedicated support for systemic and biologic treatment pathways, nurse-led treatments and associated coding, working closely with the clinical and nursing teams to ensure pathway actions are completed accurately and promptly.

This job description provides a standardised framework for Dermatology PPC roles, promoting consistency, efficiency and high-quality patient care across the service, which are:

  • Patient pathway co-ordinator - Tele-dermatology

  • Patient pathway co-ordinator - Minor Operations Scheduling

  • Patient pathway co-ordinator - Biologics, Systemic and Acne treatments

  • Patient pathway co-ordinator - Nurse Lead Treatments and coding

All posts will undertake a core set of generic Dermatology PPC responsibilities, alongside a specific focus on their designated specialist pathway or area of the service.
