Residential Support Worker - Education based Roles
About this job
Have you worked in residential care, supported young people or helped individuals navigate challenging situations? Have you considered taking those skills into education?
At Tradewind Recruitment, we're looking for compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic people from care and support backgrounds who are interested in making the move into schools.
You don't necessarily need previous classroom experience. In fact, some of the most valuable skills you can bring into education are those you've already developed outside of it.
Your experience could be exactly what a school is looking for if you've worked as a:
-
Residential Support Worker
-
Children's Support Worker
-
Youth Worker or Youth Mentor
-
SEN Support Worker
-
Mental Health Support Worker
-
Care Worker
-
Behaviour Support Worker
-
Family Support Worker
Why make the move into education?
You could use your existing experience to support children and young people with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, trauma, behavioural challenges and communication difficulties.
Your day might involve:
-
Building positive, trusting relationships with young people.
-
Supporting pupils who may struggle to engage with mainstream education.
-
Helping children develop confidence, independence and social skills.
-
Providing emotional and behavioural support.
-
Working alongside teachers and wider school teams to help pupils reach their potential.
What we're looking for:
-
Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
-
A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
-
Confidence managing challenging situations and behaviours.
-
A genuine interest in helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
-
A willingness to learn and develop within an educational setting.
What we can offer:
-
Opportunities across SEN schools and Alternative Provision settings.
-
Full-time and part-time opportunities.
-
Long-term placements and potential temp-to-perm positions.
-
Competitive rates of pay.
-
Ongoing support from your local Tradewind Recruitment consultant.
You don't have to be a qualified teacher to make a difference in a classroom. Sometimes, the right person is someone who already knows how to support, encourage and understand a young person.
