An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Physical Healthcare Team at Guild Lodge.

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Health Care Support Worker who is passionate about physical healthcare and making a difference to the lives of people with complex mental health needs.

Working alongside Advanced Clinical Practitioners, nurses, GPs and multidisciplinary colleagues, you will play an important role in improving physical health outcomes and reducing health inequalities for patients receiving secure inpatient care.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys patient contact, values teamwork and wants to develop knowledge and skills in physical healthcare within a unique and rewarding specialist environment.

Main duties of the job

As part of the Physical Healthcare Team, you will support the delivery of a wide range of physical health interventions across the hospital.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the completion of physical health assessments and reviews.
  • Undertaking venepuncture, ECGs and other delegated clinical activities following training and competency assessment.
  • Supporting physical health clinics and health promotion programmes.
  • Assisting patients to engage with investigations, screening programmes and healthcare appointments.
  • Monitoring and reporting changes in patients' physical wellbeing.
  • Supporting the management of long-term conditions and healthy lifestyle interventions.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and contributing to data collection and audits.
  • Working closely with ward teams to ensure patients receive timely access to physical healthcare services.

Experience of venepuncture, ECG recording, long-term condition monitoring or supporting physical healthcare services would be advantageous, although full training and support will be provided.

The Physical Healthcare Team is central to the ongoing development of physical healthcare services at Guild Lodge. The service supports patients with a wide range of physical health needs and is focused on improving access to assessment, treatment, prevention and health promotion. Recent service developments have strengthened the team's role in supporting both acute and ongoing physical healthcare across the hospital.
