Apply for this job

Job summary

We are looking for two enthusiastic and motivated Housekeepers to join our friendly Day Procedure Unit (DPU) and Same Day Admission Unit (SDAU) teams at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Our departments care for patients having planned surgery across a wide range of specialties. We are a busy, supportive team where every role is valued, and every person contributes to delivering a positive experience for our patients.

We are looking for individuals who take pride in their work, enjoy working with people, and are committed to creating a clean, welcoming and safe environment. A positive attitude, good organisational skills and the ability to work well as part of a team are essential.

What makes our team special is our strong teamwork culture. We work closely together, helping one another to provide excellent care and ensuring patients feel respected, informed and cared for throughout their journey. We are proud of our welcoming atmosphere and value every team member.

Our work is guided by the Trust's PRIDE values: People Focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence. These values shape how we support our patients and colleagues every day.

If you are looking for a role where you can make a real difference, develop your skills and be part of a friendly team, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The Housekeeper plays an important role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the department. Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, you will help maintain a clean, safe, organised and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.

You will be required to support high standards of infection prevention and control by ensuring patient areas, clinical and non-clinical areas are maintained to a high standard. You will be responsible for monitoring and replenishing stock, ensuring equipment and supplies are available, supporting food and drink provision for patients, and reporting any environmental or maintenance concerns appropriately.

This is a patient-facing role: good communication skills, a friendly and professional manner, and a commitment to providing an excellent patient experience are essential. You will work closely with nursing, administrative and clinical teams, contributing to a positive and efficient care environment.

DPU and SDAU are committed to supporting learning and development, encouraging all staff to develop their skills and knowledge. You will be expected to work collaboratively with all colleagues and contribute positively to the team culture.

Please read the full job description for further information. Our opening hours are Monday to Sunday between 07:00 and 22:00, and the shifts are 07:00 to 15:00 and 12:00 to 20:00. We currently do not work Bank Holidays or night shifts.
