Apply for this job

Job summary

Are you a GP looking for a role providing care for patients without the endless paperwork and administrative burden of traditional general practice?

We are seeking experienced General Practitioners to join our highly regarded Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) on a substantive basis with availability of hours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. If regular hours are not suited to you but you are still interested in working for the UTC then we are also recruiting for bank opportunities.

We are a GP-led service providing assessment and management of a diverse mix of patients presenting with acute illnesses and urgent care needs. Working at the UTC offers an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive team delivering high-quality care to patients who need timely assessment and treatment, while maintaining an excellent work-life balance.

Join a supportive, experienced team where you can focus on delivering high-quality patient care. Enjoy a varied and interesting case mix, 20-minute appointments, and triage support, with minimal administrative burden beyond consultation records and referrals. We offer paid medical indemnity, 6 weeks' annual leave plus 1 week study leave (pro rata), NB Medical subscription, regular CPD opportunities, and flexible shift patterns including 6- and 12-hour shifts, with substantive and bank opportunities available.

Main duties of the job

GPs working at the UTC assess and manage patients presenting with a wide range of acute illnesses and urgent care needs. Patients are referred from the local Emergency Department (on the same site), local GP surgeries and NHS 111. The role offers genuine clinical variety while allowing you to concentrate on what matters most: delivering excellent patient care.

Our Urgent Treatment Centre is open 9am-9pm 365 days a year and sees approximately ~17,000 patients each year. It plays a vital role in reducing pressure on the local Emergency Department and General Practice. We are proud to consistently receive excellent patient feedback and maintain high patient satisfaction ratings as well as being well regarded by those who refer into the service.

What We're Looking For

  • GMC registered GP with a licence to practise
  • Experience managing acute and urgent presentations
  • Strong clinical decision-making skills
  • A team player committed to delivering high-quality patient-centred care
  • An interest in urgent care and service development

If you're passionate about providing excellent patient care, enjoy the variety and interesting case mix of working in an Urgent Care setting, have strong team-working values and want to join a service where your clinical expertise makes a real difference every day then wed love to hear from you.

If this opportunity is for you, please apply or to find out more or arrange an informal discussion please email Banbury UTC Clinical Lead: [email protected].
