The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust Staff Nurse (Band 5) -Oak Cancer Centre
The closing date is 13 November 2026
Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our pioneering Ambulatory Inpatient Service (AMBIN) at the Oak Cancer Centre. AMBIN is a specialist nurse-led service delivering complex cancer treatments and supportive care to patients in the community, enabling them to remain at home or in designated accommodation whilst maintaining 24-hour access to specialist hospital support.
The role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of ambulatory cancer care, supporting patients receiving complex systemic anti-cancer therapies, stem cell transplant pathways, cellular therapies and advanced supportive treatments that traditionally required inpatient admission. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering personalised, high-quality care closer to home while contributing to the ongoing development of one of the UK's leading ambulatory cancer services.
Main duties of the job
Established in 2011 within the Haemato-Oncology Service, AMBIN was developed to safely deliver complex treatments outside the traditional inpatient setting. The service now supports:
- Ambulatory administration of Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT)
- Stem cell transplant conditioning pathways
- Cellular therapies including CAR-T patient pathways
- Donor Lymphocyte Infusions (DLI)
- BiTE therapies and associated follow-up care
- Ambulatory infusion device treatments delivered at home
- Early supported discharge and ongoing monitoring
- Seven-day specialist nursing care with 24-hour patient access to support
