Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated nurse to join our Haematology Team as a Myeloma Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) on a 12 month fixed term / secondment basis. Based within the Cancer, Diagnostics and Clinical Support Division, the successful candidate will lead and develop the specialist nursing service for patients diagnosed with multiple myeloma and related plasma cell disorders.

As the Lead Myeloma CNS, you will act as a key worker, providing expert clinical care, support and advice to patients and their families throughout the patient pathway, from diagnosis and treatment through to survivorship, relapse management and end-of-life care. You will work autonomously and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to coordinate complex care, improve patient outcomes and drive service development.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced haematology, oncology or cancer nurse with strong clinical leadership skills to advance specialist practice, influence service improvement and contribute to research, education and innovation within a forward-thinking organisation.

If you are considering applying for an internal secondment, please ensure you have discussed this with your line manager and obtained their support prior to submitting your application.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the specialist nursing service for patients with multiple myeloma and related plasma cell disorders.
  • Act as a key worker, providing expert clinical support and coordination throughout the patient journey.
  • Deliver holistic assessments and manage complex symptoms associated with myeloma and treatment-related toxicities.
  • Provide nurse-led reviews, education and support to patients, families and carers.
  • Work closely with haematology consultants, chemotherapy teams, transplant centres, community teams and wider multidisciplinary services to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Lead service development, quality improvement, audit and implementation of evidence-based practice.
  • Support education, training and workforce development across the organisation.
  • Contribute to clinical research, innovation and delivery of national and local cancer priorities.
