Apply for this job

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Child and Young People Psychological Therapies (CYP-PT) Training Programme and develop specialist skills in Systemic Psychotherapy while working within a dynamic and supportive CAMHS service.

The successful applicant will be based within either Luton Specialist CAMHS or the Central Bedfordshire CAMHS Community Access Service, both of which form part of the wider South Bedfordshire CAMHS provision. Working alongside highly skilled multidisciplinary teams, you will support children, young people and families experiencing a range of mental health difficulties, while undertaking a nationally recognised postgraduate training programme in Systemic Psychotherapy.

Main duties of the job

This intensive training post offers a unique blend of clinical practice and academic learning, enabling you to develop expertise in evidence-based systemic interventions within real-world CAMHS settings. This is a fixed-term training post funded through NHS England's CYP Psychological Therapies Programme. Successful applicants will be employed within the service whilst simultaneously undertaking a Postgraduate Diploma programme. The training will begin in January 2027 with around 2.5 days a week for academic work (teaching and personal study), and 2.5 days based at the service seeing clients related to training assignments. Trainees will be both an employee of the service and an enrolled student with King's College London. Upon completion, qualified trainees will receive a KCL Postgraduate Diploma.

You will work with children, young people and families from diverse cultural, social and ethnic backgrounds and will be supported to provide inclusive, culturally responsive care. Alongside direct clinical work, you will have opportunities to contribute to service development initiatives, quality improvement projects, clinical audit, service evaluation and research activities, helping to shape and enhance mental health services across Bedfordshire and Luton

About us

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
