Job summary

The vacancy is for a full time Speciality Doctor working into Middlesbrough Community Hub Team. This post is based at Parkside Mental Health Resource Centre, Middlesbrough. You will be expected to provide committed, proactive and responsive clinical leadership working with other staff to provide an assessment and treatment service. You will be supported by a Foundation Doctor post and supervised by the Consultant based at Parkside. Middlesbrough has a population of 143,900. Currently the team has one Consultant and one Nurse Consultant covering the team. The post advertised does not carry any inpatient or crisis commitment.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and provide clinical expertise for both new and ongoing cases particularly issues around psychopharmacology, diagnosis, risk assessments including liaison with the local GPs and inpatient units.

The patients will generally be seen with their care co-ordinator and although you will be able to work autonomously and independently in terms of decision making, there will be close and ready supervision available from the Consultant Psychiatrist/Specialist Psychiatrist.

Main duties of the job

New patient assessments: You will undertake assessments for new patients and follow up and review old patients by engaging with the Model Line process, the Consultant will also provide a diagnosis and treatment plan

You will be expected to provide input in Clozapine clinic on regular basis.

You will be expected to have periodic home visits with the care coordinator.

You will be expected to be a part of MDT meetings and provide valuable input for the management of the patients and demonstrate leadership.

You will be expected to be part and contribute to Formulation meetings.

Provide Clinical leadership to the team.

You will be expected to undertake Mental Health Act assessments.
