Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Scientist or Biomedical Andrologist to lead and manage the diagnostic semen analysis laboratory at Kingston Hospital.

This is a part-time role working 08:00 - 12:00 three days a week

Main duties of the job

To lead and manage the diagnostic semen analysis laboratory at Kingston Hospital. You will be responsible for performing and reporting semen analyses for fertility investigations and post vasectomy testing. You will authorise semen analysis reports and ensure timely distribution of these reports to local GPS, hospital clinics and other local healthcare providers.

There will be opportunities for personal development as the role will encompass management of a lab technician and potential for working towards accreditation of the service.

  • State registration as a Clinical Scientist or Biomedical Andrologist
  • BSc in a biology-based subject

Desirable

  • Attendence at ARCS andrology related training courses/ seminars/ workshops

Experience

  • Competent and experienced in performing semen analysis to WHO Laboratory Manual for Examination and Processing of Human Semen 6th edition guidelines
  • Understands and can interpret the clinical significance of macroscopic and microscopic findings in a semen analysis
  • Competent and experienced in performing semen analysis for post vasectomy

Knowledge

Desirable

  • Knowledge of UKAS accreditation and ISO 23162 standards
  • Knowledge of the HFEA and it's Code of Practice and how this relates to a diagnostic andrology laboratory
