Job summary

The Band 5 rotational Occupational Therapy post offers newly qualified Occupational Therapists the opportunity of gaining experience in a variety of acute inpatient clinical settings including care of the elderly, stroke, specialist medicine and orthopaedics & surgery. The post holder will provide high quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions to a wide variety of patients in liaison with the multidisciplinary team and community partners.

Main duties of the job

  1. To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own clinical and professional work, including the management of patients in your care
  2. To undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments of patients with a range of health and social care needs for presentations including but not limited to; medical and respiratory pathologies, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions, gastrointestinalconditions, frailty, falls and stroke
  3. To gather relevant medical, clinical and social information and analyse and interpret all information gained to guide intervention
  4. Formulate and deliver an occupational therapy treatment programme based on sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options, using clinical assessment and reasoning skills
  5. To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, in collaboration with patients, using graded activity to achieve their therapeutic goals
