Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Service Manager to join our Medicine Care Group, leading Respiratory and Renal services.

Working with the General Manager, Clinical Leads and senior nursing colleagues, you will provide operational leadership across elective and non-elective care, cancer pathways and diagnostics.

You will lead on:o Service improvement and transformationo Patient flow, access and pathway redesigno Performance and service recoveryo Workforce planning and productivityo Medical staffing and financial managemento Quality, safety and patient experienceo Partnership working across teams

Using data and insight, you will identify challenges, lead sustainable improvements and deliver measurable results for patients and staff.We are looking for a confident, collaborative and solutions-focused leader with experience managing complex services in an acute healthcare environment. Strong communication, influencing, analytical and organisational skills are essential.

Specialist experience across every service is not required. We value breadth of experience, leadership capability and a proven ability to deliver.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for overall safe and smooth delivery of identified services as set out in the Trust business plan and national service frameworks.

Responsible for delivering relevant performance targets and metrics, including clinical outcome objectives and service line reporting.

Interpret data available within the service to report, monitor and track performance and to satisfy reporting requirements within the designated areas of responsibility.

Work in partnership with the Information Department to provide specialty specific reports which feedback performance to the General Manager and other senior staff.

We operate from two main sites - KGH in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 346,000 people visiting them last year. We're campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen's and get rid of corridor care.

We're proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.

We run a Women's Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The majority of our 8,400 staff - who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups.
