Job summary

Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking for an opportunity to help shape a new intermediate care service?

We are seeking a motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Burren Intermediate Care Beds Service. The Burren is a new and developing service, currently funded for 12 months, providing an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to its implementation, development and evaluation. You will play an important part in establishing effective therapy pathways and demonstrating the positive impact of a responsive, person-centred intermediate care model.

The Burren provides a dedicated step-down pathway for people who no longer require acute hospital care but continue to need rehabilitation, recovery support, assessment, discharge planning and multidisciplinary intervention. The service currently comprises 32 intermediate care beds, alongside an additional bariatric pathway.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will provide safe, effective, evidence-based and person-centred occupational therapy intervention for people with a range of complex health and care needs.

You will undertake holistic assessments and use advanced clinical reasoning to plan, deliver and evaluate individualised rehabilitation programmes. Working collaboratively with patients, families and carers, you will identify meaningful and achievable goals that promote independence, improve quality of life and support safe and timely discharge.
