Power BI Developer – Contract – Hybrid / Cardiff
VIQU have partnered with an NHS organisation seeking a Power BI Developer to help stabilise, optimise, and deliver reporting across a complex platform environment.
The successful Power BI Developer will work to address performance issues and data models on existing reports, as well as refining current Power BI outputs, implementing a scalable Fabric/data lake approach, and delivering in-app reporting within Model-Driven Apps (Dataverse).
Key Responsibilities
- Optimise and refactor existing Power BI reports to resolve performance and data model issues
- Build and enhance reporting solutions using Microsoft Fabric and data lake / lakehouse architectures
- Deliver Power BI dashboards using scalable semantic models
- Develop Power BI Embedded reporting within Model-Driven App / Dataverse environments
- Implement in-app operational reporting (lists, lightweight reporting) alongside Power BI analytics
- Improve performance across DAX, queries, and data structures to ensure fast, reliable reporting
- Support the consolidation and delivery of a defined set of reports across both Power BI and in-app reporting layers
Key Skills and Experience Required
- Strong background as a Power BI Developer with experience with performance optimisation and troubleshooting
- Experience working with data lakes / Microsoft Fabric / lakehouse architectures
- Strong understanding of semantic modelling, data relationships, and DAX optimisation
- Experience with Model-Driven Apps (Dataverse) and in-app reporting approaches
- Experience delivering Power BI Embedded reporting within application environments
- Proven ability to work on brownfield reporting environments (fixing, improving, consolidating)
- Ability to work across both analytical (Power BI) and operational (in-app) reporting patterns
Contract Overview
- Role: Power BI Developer
- Duration: 6 Month Contract
- IR35: Inside IR35
- Rate: £325 per day
- Location: Hybrid / Cardiff
