A specialist SEN provision in Tooting is looking for an experienced and committed Learning Support Assistant to join their Early Years team on a part-time, long-term basis.

The Learning Support Assistant will work with Nursery and Reception-aged children with Autism and additional special educational needs within a specialist SEN unit.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with strong SEN experience who enjoys working with younger children and is looking for the stability of a long-term, three-day-per-week position.

The Learning Support Assistant Role
  • Support Nursery and Reception-aged children with Autism and additional needs.

  • Work within a specialist SEN unit designed to provide targeted support.

  • Provide a mixture of 1:1 and small-group support.

  • Support children's communication, social interaction and emotional development.

  • Encourage engagement through structured and play-based Early Years activities.

  • Help children develop independence and essential life skills.

  • Support sensory and emotional regulation where required.

  • Use visual resources, routines and other appropriate SEN strategies.

  • Work closely with teachers, SEN professionals and other support staff.

  • Assist with personal care and daily routines where required.

The Ideal Learning Support Assistant
  • Previous experience supporting children with special educational needs is essential.

  • Experience supporting children with Autism / ASC is highly desirable.

  • Early Years, Nursery or Reception experience would be advantageous.

  • Patient, nurturing and able to provide consistent support.

  • Confident working with children who may have communication, sensory or behavioural needs.

  • Reliable and able to commit to 3 days per week on a long-term basis.

  • Passionate about supporting children with SEND to make progress.
