Broster Buchanan are partnering with a leading private-equity backed Northampton-based business to appoint an experienced accounts payable professional to lead and manage the finance operations team as an Accounts Payable Supervisor on an initial 3-month interim assignment.
This is a hands-on opportunity for a strong transactional finance professional to hit the ground running, lead a small team and take ownership of a critical Finance Operations function.
You'll oversee Accounts Payable, Cash Reconciliation, Refunds, Expenses and Financial Controls across a large multi-site operation, working closely with Finance and Operations to resolve issues, maintain accuracy and improve processes.
The role:
- Lead and develop a team of 2 Finance Operations Assistants (AP)
- Oversee end-to-end AP and BACS payment runs
- Review cash reconciliations across a large multi-site estate
- Investigate variances, unbanked cash and control issues
- Oversee c.200 authorised patient refunds per week
- Review and process employee expenses
- Manage supplier queries and statement reconciliations
- Maintain robust controls, documentation and audit trails
- Identify and implement practical process improvements
- Act as an escalation point for complex transactional issues
We're looking for an experienced Finance Operations, AP or transactional finance professional who can take ownership quickly and operate confidently in a high-volume environment. Someone that's operated in a hands-on impactful role.
You'll bring:
- Strong AP, cash reconciliation or transactional finance experience
- Previous team leadership/supervisory experience
- Excellent attention to detail and financial control awareness
- Strong systems aptitude and confidence working across multiple platforms
- The ability to manage competing daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
- A proactive, hands-on approach to problem solving and process improvement
- Clear communication skills and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders
The opportunity This is an initial 3-month interim assignment suited to an experienced interim professional or someone immediately available / on a short notice period who can make an impact quickly. There is scope for the assignment to be extended or offered on a permanent basis after the contract, pending the suitability.
