Job summary
Due to maternity leave. we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Specialist Neurology Dietitian to join our wider Neurosciences dietetic team, providing expert nutritional care to patients with complex neurological conditions.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills within a specialist area, working closely with the wider MDT to provide patient centred care. You will manage a varied and rewarding caseload, providing specialist assessment and treatment for patients across a range of conditions.
Working within on of the largest NHS organisations in the North West, you will be supported by an experienced dietetic team committed to high-quality patient care, service development and professional growth. Salford is home to the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences (MCCN), one of the largest neuroscience centres in the UK, providing specialist and tertiary services to patients across Greater Manchester and beyond. This offers a unique opportunity to develop advanced clinical expertise while working alongside leading specialists within a well-established neurosciences network.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver a specialist dietetic service for patients with complex neurological conditions. - Undertake nutritional assessments and develop individualised care plans. - Manage and prioritise a complex caseload, adapting interventions to meet changing patient needs. - Provide specialist advice on malnutrition, weight loss, dysphagia, oral nutritional supplements and enteral feeding. - Participate in multidisciplinary clinics, ward rounds and team meetings, contributing expert nutritional advice. - Work collaboratively with consultants, specialist nurses, speech and language therapists, therapists and community teams. - Support patients, carers and healthcare professionals through education, training and advice. - Facilitate safe discharge planning and continuity of nutritional care. - Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and Trust standards. - Contribute to audit, quality improvement and service development activities. - Support and supervise students and junior members of the dietetic team where appropriate. - Maintain specialist knowledge and ensure practice is evidence-based and compliant with HCPC, BDA and Trust standards.
