Lead Infrastructure & Hosting Architect

- Location: London, Hybrid (minimum once a week onsite)

Join Reed Professional Services, a leading digital transformation consultancy and part of the Reed Group. We specialise in delivering sustainable change through expertise in people, process, technology, and procurement. We are currently engaged to conduct a comprehensive audit of a hosting and infrastructure estate, aiming to provide a clear understanding of its current state and support future hosting strategy decisions.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
- Technical Discovery & Assessment:
- Lead technical discovery workshops with various teams.
- Assess hosting environments and document dependencies.
- Validate information through evidence-based assessment.
- Audit & Categorisation:
- Establish categorisation frameworks to support strategic decision-making.
- Prioritise identification of workloads impacting future licensing demands.
- Risk, Resilience & Operational Assessment:
- Assess service criticality and review recovery arrangements.
- Identify operational risks and technical debt.
- Strategic Analysis:
- Identify and evaluate "no regrets" opportunities such as rationalisation and replatforming.
- Remain technology-neutral and support strategic decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Governance:
- Facilitate workshops and reviews, building trusted relationships across stakeholder groups.
- Present findings and support governance processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Technical Expertise:
- Extensive experience in enterprise infrastructure or hosting architecture.
- Strong knowledge of VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, Windows Server platforms, and Linux environments.
- Understanding of hybrid hosting environments and cloud migration considerations.
- Consulting & Discovery Experience:
- Proven experience in technical discovery, estate assessments, or audits.
- Ability to handle large, complex environments and assess evidence quality.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Exceptional facilitation skills and experience engaging with senior stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, capable of translating technical findings for diverse audiences.
Desirable:
- Experience in media, broadcasting, or large-scale digital platforms.
- Familiarity with public sector or regulated environments.
- Knowledge of datacentre consolidation, cloud migration, and licensing management.
Deliverables:
- Discovery outputs, technical assessments, and categorisation frameworks.
- Risk and dependency assessments.
- Technical findings and recommendations.
- Contributions to final audit report and governance packs.
