Interim Head of Service Charges

Are you an experienced Service Charges leader within Social Housing? Have you led sizeable teams through periods of operational challenge? Can you combine technical expertise with strong customer and stakeholder management?

We’re supporting a London Housing Association to recruit an Interim Head of Service Charges on an 18-month fixed-term contract. The role joins during a transformation programme, creating an opportunity for an experienced operator to take ownership of the day-to-day service.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading a sizeable Service Charges function, line managing the Service Charge Managers
• Driving performance and clearing historic accounts and customer enquiry backlogs
• Embedding a newly restructured and growing team
• Providing senior oversight of complex service charge cases, complaints and resident enquiries
• Strengthening operational processes and getting the service back onto a sustainable cycle
• Building effective relationships across the organisation to improve service charge delivery

The big sell is the scale and challenge of the assignment. There is significant organisational backing, investment and a dedicated transformation programme tackling the underlying issues – this person gets to focus on leading the operational service and delivering visible improvement.

To be considered, please meet the following criteria:

• Significant Service Charges experience within Social Housing
• Previous leadership of sizeable Service Charges teams
• Strong understanding of both the financial and customer-facing elements of Service Charges
• Excellent performance management and stakeholder engagement skills
• Previous Head of Service-level experience strongly preferred
