About this job
MORELA
Data Consultant
Contract 4months view to extend · Consultant / Junior Consultant · London (hybrid)
OVERVIEW
Morela is exclusively supporting a leading UK management consultancy on a specialist data engagement. They have been engaged by a major UK financial organisation to stand up a small, specialist data analytics team supporting a pilot data programme, with a single aim: sharper regulatory supervision through better use of data.
ABOUT THE CLIENT
Our client is an established management and transformation consultancy that helps major public and private sector organisations deliver complex, high-stakes change. They pair strategic thinking with genuine hands-on delivery, putting small, capable teams on the ground to get results rather than leaving a slide deck behind. This engagement runs exactly that way: a tight, senior team delivering measurable outcomes for an end client that matters.
THE ROLE
You would join as one of three Data Consultants working alongside a senior lead, turning complex, multi-source datasets into analysis, dashboards and intelligence the end client can act on. It is a delivery-focused role with real technical depth. You work the data yourself, and you are just as comfortable explaining it in plain English to people who do not live in it. The senior lead owns overall client management, but you are still expected to hold your own with business and technical stakeholders day to day.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyse large, complex, multi-source datasets in SQL and turn the results into clear, usable findings.
- Build and maintain dashboards and data visualisations in Tableau or Power BI that business and technical teams actually use.
- Assess, validate and improve data quality across the programme’s datasets.
- Support the supervisory intelligence, risk analytics and reporting that feeds regulatory decision-making.
- Work directly with business and technical stakeholders, translating between the two and keeping the analysis grounded in what they need.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Strong SQL and hands-on experience analysing large-scale data across complex, multi-source datasets.
- Experience with AWS data services, particularly S3, DynamoDB and Athena.
- Dashboarding and data visualisation in Tableau or Power BI.
- Data quality assessment, validation and improvement.
- Genuine stakeholder skills across business and technical audiences, and the ability to explain technical work in plain English.
- A consulting mindset: delivery-focused, self-managing and credible in front of a client.
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Financial services, regulatory or public-sector delivery experience.
- Experience applying data quality or governance frameworks in a regulated environment.
