Hays Civil Engineering are delighted to be working with a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering a significant programme of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the South East.Due to continued growth and a long-term secured workload, our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their delivery team and take ownership of capital projects from development through to completion.This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business with a strong pipeline of work across treatment, network and environmental improvement schemes.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, commercial and operational delivery of projects, ensuring programme, quality and financial targets are achieved whilst maintaining excellent client and stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing projects throughout the full life cycle, from design and planning through to commissioning and handover.
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams including engineering, commercial, planning and site delivery functions.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, sustainably, on programme and within budget.
  • Managing NEC contracts and administering contractual requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining project programmes, cost forecasts and risk registers.
  • Driving health, safety, environmental and quality performance across all project activities.
  • Managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.
  • Producing regular progress reports and presenting project updates to senior stakeholders.
  • Identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, regulators, local authorities and operational teams.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven project management experience within civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure.
  • Previous experience delivering water, wastewater or environmental projects would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial management principles.
  • Experience managing project programmes, budgets and resources.
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Appropriate CSCS card.
  • Full UK driving licence.
