Job summary
The Nurse Endoscopistis responsible forproviding a high-quality, autonomous endoscopic service within the Endoscopy Unit. The post holder will independently assess, diagnose,treatand manage patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures within their scope of practice.
The Nurse Endoscopist will contribute to service development, clinical governance, education,auditand quality improvement initiatives, ensuring care is evidence-based, safe and patient-centered.
Main duties of the job
Independently perform upper and/or lower gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures, including:
Oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy (OGD)
Flexible sigmoidoscopy
Colonoscopy (where appropriately accredited)
Obtain informed consentin accordance withTrust policies.
Undertake comprehensive patient assessment before, during and after procedures.
Recogniseabnormalities and determineappropriate managementplans.
Request and interpret relevant diagnostic investigations.
Perform therapeutic procedures within competency and agreed scope of practice.
Manage clinical complications and emergency situations appropriately.
Communicate findings and outcomes effectively to patients and multidisciplinary teams.
Ensureaccurateandtimelyclinical documentation.

- JETS Workforce certification or equivalent competency in endoscopy practice.
- Degree in Nursing or equivalent experience.
