Interim Finance Manager – Fixed Assets
London | Hybrid Working
£600–£700 per day | Inside IR35 Up to 6 months
I am working with a London local authority to recruit an experienced Interim Finance Manager – Fixed Assets to support its Corporate Finance function.
The role will report directly into the Head of Finance and take ownership of the Council’s Fixed Asset Registers, with an immediate focus on completing the 2025/26 year-end and audit requirements, while ensuring the registers are maintained accurately throughout 2026/27 in preparation for the next year-end.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of the Council’s Fixed Asset Registers
- Supporting completion of the 2025/26 accounts and external audit
- Resolving outstanding fixed asset queries and audit issues
- Ensuring additions, disposals, transfers and revaluations are correctly accounted for
- Maintaining accurate in-year fixed asset records throughout 2026/27
- Completing reconciliations between the Fixed Asset Register and General Ledger Preparing and reviewing fixed asset working papers and disclosures
- Ensuring appropriate accounting treatment in line with the CIPFA Code and local government accounting requirements
- Working closely with external auditors and responding to technical queries
- Providing oversight and support to a direct report Supporting the Head of Finance with wider technical accounting requirements where necessary
The ideal candidate;
- You will be an experienced local government financial accountant / Finance Manager with strong technical expertise across fixed assets and year-end accounts.
You will ideally have:
- Significant local authority fixed asset accounting experience – essential
- Strong knowledge of Fixed Asset Registers and General Ledger reconciliation
- Experience supporting local authority year-end closedown and external audit
- Good understanding of capital accounting, asset valuations, depreciation, disposals and impairments
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including the CIPFA Code Experience dealing directly with external auditors
- The ability to work independently and quickly get on top of historic issues Previous experience managing or supporting junior finance staff
