Project Finance Manager

A leading global law firm are seeking an experienced Project Finance Manager to act as the finance lead across a portfolio of high-profile strategic projects on a 15 month FTC basis to cover an upcoming maternity leave.
This is a highly visible business partnering role, sitting at the heart of major transformation, technology, operational and change initiatives. Working closely with senior stakeholders, PMOs, programme directors and executive leadership, you will provide financial oversight, challenge and governance throughout the entire project lifecycle.
This role will suit someone particularly strong on management accounting who enjoys facing off to the business and discussing cost rather than revenue analysis.
The Role
As the dedicated finance lead for the firm's largest and most complex projects, you will:
- Partner with PMOs, Project Managers and senior leadership teams on major strategic initiatives
- Review, challenge and validate financial models, business cases and investment proposals
- Provide financial governance and assurance for project budgets and ongoing expenditure
- Monitor project performance against approved budgets, identifying risks, variances and opportunities
- Advise on capital vs revenue expenditure, cash flow implications and accounting treatment
- Conduct scenario modelling, forecasting and ROI analysis to support key decision making
- Ensure appropriate financial controls, compliance and audit readiness across the project portfolio
- Build strong relationships across technology, business change and operational teams
- Deliver insights and recommendations to senior committees and executive stakeholders
- Support portfolio budgeting and annual planning activities for a significant programme of investment
About You
- 3+ years' post-qualified experience
- Strong management accounting experience
- A solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, business cases and investment appraisal
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities
- The ability to influence, challenge and engage senior stakeholders
- A proactive, self-starting approach with excellent communication skills
- Experience analysing large-scale project or programme expenditure would be advantageous
