B6 - Ward Sister/Charge Nurse

Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust has an opportunity tojoin our Adult PICU Mental Health Norbury Ward at St Georges Hospital, Stafford.

Norbury House is a psychiatric intensive care unit and has eleven inpatient beds for male only patients. We aim to provide a service which helps each patient as an individual and gives them the treatment they need to work towards their recovery. Working in an PICU environment can be challenging, but with the right team, positive attitude and resilience we are rising to the challenge and reaping the reward of being able to support people during their most difficult times.

We will empower you to work innovatively, showing a commitment to providing compassionate care and a strong desire to improve the patient's experience. You will be able to apply the philosophies of engagement, recovery and positive care in your work with your patients.

Main duties of the job

  • You will take the lead for quality and clinical interventions on the ward and be an active member of a collective leadership group.
  • You will be responsible for guiding and undertaking clinical assessments, in accordance with clinical pathways, in order to establish the person's needs, goals, risks and strengths in order to generate a formulation based care plan agreed with all involved.
  • You will be responsible for guiding and delivering therapeutic interventions, in accordance with an agreed care plan.
  • You will also be expected to be available for consultation, support and clinical supervision to other health professionals working on the ward.

  • Evidence of extensive post registration experience of working with older adults experiencing mental health related difficulties
  • Experience of working with people who have difficulty in engaging with services and have complex mental health needs
  • Experience of assessing, planning, co-ordinating and managing people with mental health problems in a community setting
  • Current Band 5 working for MPFT on an adult acute ward

Desirable

  • Experience of making decisions autonomously
