HW Finance are supporting a historical manufacturing business in Leeds as they look to appoint an experienced Financial Controller for an interim assignment. This is a business with strong market presence currently navigating a period of change and operational transformation.

This is a hands-on role for a technically strong accountant who can take ownership of financial accounting, reporting and controls, whilst supporting the wider leadership team through a busy period. The ideal candidate will have experience working within organisations that have undergone significant systems or process transformation and will understand the challenges that can arise following change, whether that be reporting inconsistencies, process inefficiencies or embedding new ways of working.

Whilst the finance function is well established, you will bring a proactive approach to improving financial processes and controls.

Joining the business as Interim Financial Controller, you will be engaged for an initial period of 4-6 months. The role offers a daily rate of £550-£600 per day (or an equivalent FTC package circa £120,000).

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all financial accounting, reporting and statutory compliance activities
• Maintain and strengthen financial controls and governance processes
• Ensure accurate and timely month-end reporting
• Support senior stakeholders with financial insight, analysis and decision support
• Identify and resolve accounting, reporting or process issues arising from recent business or systems changes
• Review and improve existing finance processes, controls and reporting frameworks
• Provide leadership and support to the finance function during a critical period
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across reporting and finance operations

Candidate Profile:

• Experienced Financial Controller or Head of Finance
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
• Previous experience operating within manufacturing, engineering or industrial environments
• Exposure to businesses that have undergone ERP, systems or wider transformation programmes

• Leeds based
• 4-5 days per week on-site
• Contract day-rate or Fixed-Term Contract
