Job summary
We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced Dermatology Specialist Nurse with an interest and understanding of biological therapies, skin cancer and skin surgery.
The post holder will be a designated specialty nurse for Dermatology within the Hospital and will provide specialist advise to healthcare professionals, patients, relatives and carer's for both inpatients and outpatients. Within the scope of professional practice, extend clinical skills and knowledge to change the emphasis where appropriate of delivery of care and treatment in the patient's interests and clinical advancements.
The successful candidate will work in a friendly, close knit multidisciplinary team of 5 consultant dermatologists, lead clinical nurse specialists, x2 clinical nurse specialists, x2 Dermatology staff nurses, x3 Dermatology healthcare assistants.
Main duties of the job
The successful individual will be part of a developing Nursing Team, consisting of a Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Staff Nurses and Healthcare Assistants.The post holder will:
Provide high quality care to patients that require systemic and biological therapy monitoring for psoriasis, eczema and acne. The individual will have their own monitoring clinics, assessing the patients condition and holistic needs.Perform phototherapy treatments to patients with skin conditionsPerform skin surgery and support for patients diagnosed with skin cancerSupport junior members of the teamManagerial duties
The successful applicant will have responsibility for their own case load with support from the Consultants and Senior Nurse Specialists. They will ensure high standards of nursing care development and quality improvement.
The post is full time 37.5 hours per week over Monday-Friday, and may involve some cross site working.
