We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Leicester. A category B men's prison located in the centre of Leciester on Welford Road.
We offer a challenging, yet rewarding to learn and grow your career in healthcare, where you will be fully supported, and no two days are ever the same!Hours This position is full time working 37.5 hours per week. The service covers Monday - Sunday:
- 7.30am 6pm Days
- 8.15pm - 7.45am Night

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks
#LI-PW1Main duties of the job
As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
- Deliver exceptional care to patients, both in the healthcare department and on the wings
- Facilitate clinics, including bloods, observations (obs), ECGs, NHS Health checks etc
- Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages
- Support the nursing team with all aspects of care
- Act as a second checker in pharmacy as required
- Support receptions (new patients entering the prison) and assist with triaging new patients
- You will primarily be working within the Primary care team, although may be required to carry out duties in the departments - SMS, Mental Health etc.

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:- Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or Care Certificate
- Have experience within phlebotomy - this is highly desirable!
- Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
- Have clinical experience - venepuncture, ECGs etc
- Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
