Job summary

Sherburn Group Practice is looking for an experienced Nurse Manager to join our friendly and supportive team. We are an award-winning Hull York Medical School training practice and we are looking to expand our nursing team with the appointment of a Nurse Manager. This position does not carry a clinical caseload but clinical knowledge of nursing within primary care and delivery of services within general practice, is essential. We are looking for a leader to manage and develop our nursing team.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role are to lead, manage and develop the practice nursing team. You will be a senior nurse with leadership responsibilities and transferrable management skills.

Registered Nurse with valid registration. You will lead and develop the nursing team.

The post-holder will develop (and ensure that the nursing team works with reference to) practice agreed protocols and guidelines to provide nursing treatments to patients both independently and in participation with nurse colleagues and general practitioners.

The role combines clinical practice oversight with leadership responsibilities, ensuring the nursing team operates efficiently and in line with current legislation, national guidance and practice policies.

The post holder is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective nursing care to the whole practice population. As the Manager for the nursing team, the post holder is accountable for nursing service delivery. They will lead and manage all the nursing resource, working closely with the practice management and GPs to deliver practice priorities. They will work collaboratively with the whole general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing leadership and direction for the nursing team.

The post holder has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults in line with safeguarding policies and procedures. They must ensure that they are aware of, and work within, local and national safeguarding legislation, guidance and procedures. The post holder will be required to complete mandatory safeguarding training appropriate to their role and to act at all times to protect the safety and wellbeing of patients, service users and colleagues.

This is a leadership role and as such you will not carry a daily patient caseload. You will be experienced in leading and managing a team.
