Academics are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Nursery Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Stoke-on-Trent on a maternity cover contract starting in January 2027.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher or an ambitious ECT with a passion for Early Years education. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the Nursery class and will be expected to undertake the full range of class teacher responsibilities throughout the maternity cover period.

The Role

As the Nursery Teacher, you will:

  • Take full responsibility for the Nursery class and its day-to-day provision.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, purposeful and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  • Provide a stimulating Early Years environment that supports children's learning and development.
  • Assess children's progress and maintain accurate records in line with school expectations.
  • Support children's personal, social and emotional development.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and other staff to ensure high-quality provision.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues.
  • Contribute fully to the wider life of the school.
  • Ensure safeguarding and welfare remain a priority at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a teacher who is:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experienced or confident in teaching within the Early Years/Nursery setting.
  • Passionate about providing children with the best possible start to their education.
  • Creative, enthusiastic and able to deliver engaging learning opportunities.
  • Confident managing a Nursery classroom and leading a team effectively.
  • Organised and committed to high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
