Technical Project Manager - Application Modernisation

Location: London (2 days per week on-site, 3 days remote)
Contract: 4-6 months initial contract with likely extensions
Rate: £360-£370 per day (Inside IR35)

I'm working with a prestigious insurance client seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the modernisation of legacy business applications into modern .NET solutions deployed within Azure and OpenShift environments.

This is a highly visible role requiring a technically credible Project Manager who can work closely with business stakeholders, developers, architects and infrastructure teams to drive successful application transformation projects. You will be a technically aware Project Manager who can bridge the gap between business and technology teams, guiding applications through the full lifecycle from legacy platforms through to modern .NET solutions deployed into Azure/OpenShift production environments.

Key Experience Required
  • Proven experience as a Technical Project Manager or Technical Delivery Manager.
  • Strong understanding of application modernisation and .NET environments.
  • Experience working with legacy technologies including Excel/VBA, MS Access, VB/VB6 and/or PowerBuilder.
  • Experience delivering applications into Azure and/or OpenShift container platforms.
  • Good understanding of Agile, DevOps, CI/CD and application migration projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management and requirements gathering skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Stakeholder Engagement

The successful candidate will be comfortable:

  • Leading discovery and requirements workshops.
  • Working directly with application owners and business users.
  • Challenging legacy processes and identifying modernisation opportunities.
  • Presenting technical solutions in business-friendly language.
  • Managing stakeholder expectations and competing priorities.
  • Producing project updates and executive-level reporting.
Important Information

Prior to applying, please ensure you are comfortable with the following:

  • The role is Inside IR35 with a maximum rate of £370 per day. Please do not apply if seeking a higher rate.
  • Attendance in the London EC1 office is required 2 days per week.
  • Applicants must have several years' experience delivering application modernisation projects.
  • This role cannot offer sponsorship.
  • Candidates must have full and unrestricted right to work in the UK, including British Citizens, Irish Citizens, Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), Settled Status, Pre-Settled Status (with sufficient validity), or a visa that provides the unrestricted right to undertake this contract assignment.
